Reality.

This is a post I wrote a long time ago but I did not allow myself to publish, cos people might think i am nuts....well i sell nuts...but am sane. Now with the movies like Inception and Shutter Island released I can comfortably publish without anyone thinking I've lost it. I know what you will say next -that I had lost it long ago anyways!! 


I got a window into the real world from an unreal movie - The Matrix.

The character Morpheus gets to say some really profound sentences about reality.

Morpheus: If real is what you can feel, smell, taste and see, then 'real' is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain

Morpheus: Have you ever had a dream, Neo, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream? How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world?

Can we say to ourselves whether we are dreaming or awake? May be we think we are awake because our dreams have a certain weirdness about it most of the time. But what if we are asleep and dreaming about an existence and dreaming in our dreams. Its too much if this can really happen.

What about the perception or Real? Real is but what our brain percieves. Colours in the world

are seen differently by different beings. For example the Tiger supposedly can see only in black and white or almost somthing like that. The bee can see things in the ultraviolet range. Some of

us humans find it difficult to distinguish between colours like red and green which to most people

is the most natural way to see things. So the brain perceives something and tells the mind what

it sees. Reality is limited to the capacity of the brains ability to decode signals sent by set of organs limited by their senses.

A person who is diseased and hallucinates uncontrollably has a reality that is not the same as his peers. And yet he is as real in a world as anyone around him. 


So reality is but the perception of the experiencing person, of the signals that are being deduced in the brain.


Somewhere there is the answer to all the questions of life and universe!!!
