Just finished reading super freakanomics. Well, its defenitely as good as its predecessor. It explains economic stuff about information disimilarity and how it is prevalent in all aspects of our Society. But what was really an eye opener was the bit about people born in certain months making it to the national level sports. And the simple explanation was that the elder kids in a class were stronger than the younger ones and so they got selected and trained. So it implies that one should admit their children later than earlier to give them a competitive advantage.
Another thing that statistics dismisses is talent by birth. Though I am not convinced about it, this is a point that needs more proof. It says that talent is a result of constant practice and one needs only to be intereted in what he is practising in. So the phrase "God given gift" will hence forth be very limited in its usage. They did some statistical experiments about peoples abilities and how it change with experience and practice. Kind of makes life all the more tougher doesnt it?
So now I have been inspired to take up Astrology and see whether there is statistical truth in it. Already I have made progress into the Mystic Astrological Methods which are basically few rules that you follow and pick the outcome from the database of possibilities. The eerie part is that my astrological chart says that I will study astrology! Well it also say things that I am not,...... or at least that is the truth at present. One can never say.
So the question is
Does Practice Make Perfect
or
Are you designed/destined at birth to Practice???!!!!
